Your right to data protection & confidentiality is important to us

Depending on the level of information & support you need we may have to record your information, on paper files & computer systems.  We will only record your information where we have your permission

Where we need to pass on your information to other organisations who can provide further help & support support, we will discuss this with you first.

All information regarding how people use and access The Macmillan Information and Support service is confidential and will only be shared with those agencies and organisations which may be of support to you.

Alongside your written notes we also keep a record of your details on our database. This is used to collate information on clients accessing the support, for internal reports to improve the service and external reporting to Macmillan Cancer Support, as we are part of a wider information service network. All information is anonymised in the reports. You may request permission to access your notes by writing to the Manager of the Tameside Macmillan Unit or the Manager of the Tameside Macmillan Information & Support service.

Your notes will be stored securely and then retained in archive for 10 years when they will be destroyed in a safe & secure way.

We are here to provide practical and emotional support to anyone affected by cancer. If you have any questions about how we collect, use or store your data, please contact us by phone 0161 922 5644  email or by calling into the Tameside Macmillan Unit.
