When you interact with our website we may collect and store the following information each time you visit our website:

The date and time, the originating IP, the type of browser and operating system used, the URL of the referring page, the object requested, and the completion status of the request. Visitors to our public website remain anonymous as none of the data collected is linked to any personal information.

The information allows us to assess the popularity of the pages on the website, so that we can continue to improve our site and access to information.

When we provide services, we want to make them easy, useful and reliable. Where services are delivered on the internet, this sometimes involves placing small amounts of information on your device, for example, computer or mobile phone. These include small files known as cookies. They cannot be used to identify you personally. These pieces of information are used to improve services for you through, for example:

When accessing the Macmillan Information and Support service 

Depending on the level of information & support you need we may have to record your information, on paper files & computer systems.  We will only record your information where we have your permission 

Where we need to pass on your information to other organisations who can provide further help & support support, we will discuss this with you first. 

All information regarding how people use and access The Macmillan Information and Support service is confidential and will only be shared with those agencies and organisations which may be of support to you.

 

Alongside your written notes we also keep a record of your details on our database. This is used to collate information on clients accessing the support, for internal reports to improve the service and external reporting to Macmillan Cancer Support, as we are part of a wider information service network. All information is anonymised in the reports. You may request permission to access your notes by writing to the Manager of the Tameside Macmillan Unit or the Manager of the Tameside Macmillan Information & Support service.

Your notes will be stored securely and then retained in archive for 10 years when they will be destroyed in a safe & secure way.
