Macmillan Mobile Information Team


On Thursday 10 October 2019 Macmillan cancer Support`s mobile information and support team are bringing their big green bus to Active Medlock in Droylsden. The team are there to bring free, confidential information and support to anyone with questions or worries about cancer, for themselves or anyone else. Look for the big green bus, which will be staffed by experienced Cancer Information and Support Specialists. On board, there is a wide range of information for people affected by cancer, and we can also help with questions about reducing your risk or signs and symptoms. If you are pressed for time you can just pick up some leaflets or ask a quick question. We can also point you in the right direction for other local services.

There will have a wide variety of information and advice available on the day including; Tameside`s Macmillan Welfare Rights officer who can offer advice about benefits and people affected by cancer.

Willow Wood`s Start Clinic, Healthy Mind`s Emotional Support service for people affected by cancer, Macmillan Solutions volunteer support service, Carers service and much mor.e

Live Well Live Active

Live Well`s Live Active team will be in attendance to offer tours of active Medlock and advice about the Live well, Live active service.

A Live Active coach will be on hand on the day to explain more about the live active service and how it can help people through treatment onto recovery and beyond.

You are eligible for support if you have a long term health condition and you are currently inactive. You can discuss the service with your GP or healthcare professional or the Live Active professional available on the day.

Research has shown that physical activity can have a positive effect on a wide range of health conditions and recovery from surgery and cancer treatments. Increasing your physical activity, even by just a small amount initially, can help to reduce blood pressure, improve weight loss and improve heart and lung health, along with many other benefits.

Active Medlock

Active Medlock is a great venue to offer this service with a 67-piece fitness suite, an exercise studio, swimming pool, 4 x 3G 6-a-side Astro Turf pitches, Fuel café and crèche, as well as a soft play and climbing arena, all under one roof.

Whether you’re joining the gym, going for a swim, having personal training sessions, playing football, trying a class or booking your child onto swimming lessons, there is plenty to choose from at Active Medlock.

There is an extensive group exercise timetable, taught by our friendly and experienced fitness instructors, which features Les Mills classes, Yoga, Zumba, Cycle Workout, Aqua Fit and much more.
