Macmillan ‘Bring A Pound Day’ on May 24

Last year our ‘Bring A Pound Day’ for the charity raised an astonishing £7,000 for the Tameside Macmillan Unit in just one day in February last year, thanks to your amazing generosity. Local groups, organisations, schools and businesses all rallied round to participate in our ‘Bring A Pound Day’ as every single pound steadily added up to a remarkable amount. Now we’re poised to do it all over again – this time on Thursday, May 24. This year we’ll be helping to raise extra funds for the unit – plus cash for local community Macmillan grants – funds which specifically go to help those living with cancer in our communities. We’ll be broadcasting the whole event ‘live’ once again throughout the

The event held on 16th May at Hyde markets was a great success, many thanks to everyone who took part and everyone who came to talk to the Macmillan team.

Help men talk about c_ _ _ _ r. Just say the word

When Thom (pictured) was diagnosed with colon cancer, he didn’t know where to turn for support. But Macmillan was there. You know that when someone is affected by cancer, it can be hard for them to say the word, let alone ask for support. That’s why we’re encouraging more men to speak up and ask for help. Whether they need information around finances, rights at work, or a friendly chat, Local Support in Tameside & Glossop is available just call 0161 922 5644 or email specialists are available on Macmillans National Helpline 0808 808 00 00 (Monday to Friday, 9am-8pm). Please encourage the people you support to access local support, call the Support Line or visit macm
